Behind The Scenes – Art Barn, Telling the Story through Video

20 September, 2013

For the past few months we have had local filmmakers, Art Barn, on-site filming for our future promotional video. We recently caught up with Art Barn’s director, Kevin Landry, to learn more about this Squamish based company. This is what he had to say:
Tell us about your history in film and your involvement in the Sea to Sky region.

Art Barn was born from a mutual desire to tell encapsulating adventure stories through awe-inspiring imagery. Our philosophy to accomplish this goal combines collaboration with hard work while adding our unique perspective; which has developed collectively from 20 years of adventures on wheels, skis, boards, snowmobiles, rocks, oceans etc.

Art Barn has been involved with action sports filmmaking both locally, in the Sea to Sky corridor, and internationally, filming in destinations all over the world. We pride ourselves on being equally at home digging snow pits and forecasting avalanches to waiting for Golden light and hammering through late night editing sessions. The team at Art Barn is very excited to bring the Sea to Sky Gondola’s adventures by nature alive, and to a screen near You!

What are you most excited for with the opening of the Sea To Sky Gondola?

There are several things we are extremely stoked about with the opening of the Sea to Sky Gondola, first and foremost though is access to incredible terrain for any number of recreational activities. Whether it be rock climbing, mountain biking, backcountry skiing or just a delicious meal at 2800 feet.

We are also very excited to see an additional economic engine for Squamish, one that will make our home and beautiful mountains more accessible to everyone. Lastly, the Sea to Sky Gondola’s commitment to utilizing the high level of local talent to accomplish their goals is very exciting, from Ted’s trail work, to the team of local climbers cleaning world class climbing lines to our visuals.

Taylor Loughran, Art Barn’s director of photography, was kind enough to share these photos from his time up top filming for us. Enjoy, and stay tuned for the video!
