The Countdown to Shutdown

26 October, 2015

We close for scheduled maintenance Nov 2 to Dec 3 - but not before a final blowout appreciation day and fall activities. Here are 6 suggestions for activities to enjoy in our last 6 days of the summer season.

1. Invite friends for coffee & tea at the summit.

Perhaps you’re refreshed from the weekend and don’t need much exercise therapy just yet. Consider coming up for a hot drink and snack with friends.

2. Hike under the fall sun.

Tuesday is supposed to be a beautiful sunny day. Take advantage by getting outside for a walk or hike.

For a 1 hour hike, try the advanced Upper Sea to Summit Trail. There are a few places to stop and check out the view. Please note, this trail has steep sections with high steps up/down. For an intermediate trail, try Wonderland Lake Loop at the summit.

For a 2-3 hour hike, try the Shannon Basin Loop. Ask our patrol for tips and advice about any of our hiking trails.

3. Try a new workspace.

By Wednesday, you may have some looming end-of-week deadlines. For those who are able to work remotely or if you have some personal work to do, consider coming up to the summit at 10am for a quiet work space. We also serve breakfast from 10am – 11:30 am.

4. Walk ‘n talk with a friend.

Grab a hot drink in the Summit Lodge and head out for a walk (or hike) to catch up with old friends. See how many chipmunks you spot along the way!

5. Play!

We have several spots for little ones to play. We have the Tumblewoods playground at Basecamp. Check it out before you load onto the gondola to ride up. The playground is within eyesight of the cafe, so you can also sit and enjoy a drink or snack while the kids play.

The Summit Station

At the top, in our Summit Plaza, we have a sand pit, slack line and several short rocks for children to climb and play amongst.

Alpine Alley Trail

Try our interactive kids' tour for ages 4-12. The tour departs daily at 4pm on weekdays (Monday - Friday) and at 1pm on weekends (Saturday, Sunday). This tour is an awesome adventure to find and summit Bodhi's Boulder. Help the tour guide find his/her lost hiking gear, learn hiking safety, and about the different animals living in the Sea to Sky region and interact with their habitats. Meet at the trail map in the Summit Plaza.

6. Break a sweat before going out

This Halloween, whether you're going out with the kids for trick or treating or with your friends for a celebration, get some time outside to yourself before going out and indulging in various treats. If you don't have much time, consider hiking down the Upper Sea to Summit with your timer set for 30 minutes. When the timer goes off, turn back and head towards the Summit Station.

7. Meet for breakfast and celebrate!

Our last day of the summer season is this Sunday, November 1st. We will close for scheduled maintenance November 2 – December 3 and reopen for our winter season on December 4th.

Come celebrate with us at our Made for Squamish event. Made for Squamish takes place from 12 pm – 3 pm. Bring a donation to the food bank for great ticket discounts. Check out a market full of local products, live music and fall food stations. Event is open to both locals and the general public.

Breakfast from 10am – 11:30 am. Fluffly pancakes, our signature (and weird, we know) bacon and orange pancakes, veggie platters, hashbrowns and more.
