The new attraction is situated in the town of Squamish, a 40-minute drive from Vancouver and halfway to Whistler. At a cost of $22 million, the facilities also include a restaurant, bar, café and gift shop with cultural exhibits on site. Aimed at adults and children alike, the facilities have been built with easy access for pushchairs and wheelchairs.
On arrival at the summit lodge a host of other activities awaits - the spectacular Sky Pilot Suspension Bridge, numerous hiking trails, rock climbing, access trails to backcountry routes, interpretive walking loops with viewing platforms and much more.
The fully enclosed gondola cabins can hold up to 8 passengers who will travel from the base between Stawamus Chief climbing area and Shannon Falls, to a height of 885 metres above the wooded ridge northwest of Mount Habrich. The ride takes approx. 8 minutes.
