Anne
Q: How long have you worked at Sea to Sky Gondola?
A: Next month it will have been one year. Time has gone by so fast!
Q: What do you like about being an Education Guide?
A: You know, I wanted to improve my English skills and since my education background is in geography and ecology, I try to use this knowledge to help others learn about it too. Also, I love the outdoors!
Q: What are your hobbies?
A: Hiking with my dog every day and reading nonfiction. I like Michelle Obama's autobiography, and I just read Trevor Noah's "Born A Crime" in English and really enjoyed it.
Q: What is your favourite activity in our education programs?
A: My favourite activity is talking to students about trees, rocks and glaciers out on the trails. My favourite trail is Alpine Alley.
Q: What are you most looking forward to this season?
A: Snowshoeing!
Q: If you were a subalpine animal, which would you be and why?
A: I would be a mountain goat, climbing and wandering up on Goat Ridge! I love to climb.
Colleen
Q: How long have you worked at the gondola?
A: I've worked at the gondola for approximately one and a half years.
Q: What do you like about being an Ed Guide?
A: I love getting to see children experience nature. Some children come to us with a lot of experience outside and are very confident. Other children are experiencing the mountains for the first time. It's all very new to them and they're often blown away. It can be very magical.
Q: What are your hobbies?
A: Being outside is my happy place. Being outside with friends and family makes me even happier. Running, hiking, biking... all those Squamish things.
Q: What is your favorite activity in our education programs?
A: Shelter-building from our Backcountry Leadership program. Kids keep coming up with new ways to construct shelters with minimal supplies.
Q: What are you most looking forward to this season?
A: Baby & Me snowshoeing is always so much fun. A real bucket-filler for me. Also, Story Time around Christmas when Santa shows up!
Q: If you were a subalpine animal, which would you be and why?
A: A black bear. But I would stay out of the trash. Only salmon and berries for me.
Bob
Q: How long have you worked at Sea to Sky Gondola?
A: Next summer will be 10 years. Here since the beginning!
Q: What do you like about being an Education Guide?
A: I like imparting knowledge to the groups, teaching adults and children, especially about geology in the mountains. Basically, share my enthusiasm for the outdoors.
Q: What are your hobbies?
A: Hiking, mountaineering, geology...
Q: What is your favourite activity in our education programs?
A: Shelter-building! I can build a decent shelter in less than 3 minutes.
Q: What are you most looking forward to this season?
A: I'm looking forward to the new snowshoe program and doing some backcountry skiing.
Q: If you were a subalpine animal, which would you be and why?
A: I'd be an owl because they're all-knowing. They're stealthy and wise!
