What's New in Education at Sea to Sky GondolaTeam Workshops, New Mountain Sustainability Course and So Much More
20 September, 2022 Sophie Cheshire is an Outdoor Recreation Students at Capilano University and Ambassador for the Átl'ka7tsem/Howe Sound Biosphere Region Initiative Society. Sophie lead us in two workshops on the 2021 designation by UNESCO of AHS as Canada’s 19th UNESCO Biosphere Region. Gondola staff had the opportunity to think about Sea to Sky Gondola's role, as well as our individual roles in conservation and protection of biodiversity, sustainable development, and education, research and monitoring in the Region. Our discussions included questions like how far from the water should you dig a cathole? (Turns out it’s 60 metres!) How can we best protect glass sponge reefs? What are the United Nation’s 17 Goals for Sustainable Development and how can we, as AHSBRI partners work towards meeting them?Workshops with Sophie Cheshire
Mountain Sustainability Program
The United Nations has declared 2022 to be the International Year of Sustainable Mountain Development, and we’re excited to introduce our new Mountain Sustainability program! We examine how mountains are created, weather and climate, biodiversity, the impact of people and development, and take a global view of mountains around the world, from the Andes and Hindu Kush Himalaya, to our own Mount Habrich. In each module, we look at best practice in sustainability and "3 Things-to-Do."
School Programs at Sea to Sky Gondola
Our curriculums are designed to meet the British Columbia Ministry of Education’s prescribed learning outcomes for each grade level and to enhance traditional curriculums by bringing education to life. We are excited to have your students dive into the unique Sea to Sky Gondola world of science, engineering, wildlife education and cultural studies.
We welcome international students from around the world. We offer the highest standard of academic excellence and foster students' emotional connections to learning with a hands-on approach to education. We are committed to integrating language development with science, environmental and cultural studies.
