Sea to Sky Gondola and Mountain Equipment Co-op

Sea to Sky Gondola and Mountain Equipment Co-op (MEC) have struck an exciting new partnership, which includes outfitting all Gondola staff in MEC-brand technical apparel. The retail co-operative will also be the presenting sponsor of the MEC Summit Clinics, a series of onsite ‘how-to’ forums where Gondola guests can learn about hiking, climbing and running from MEC activity envoys.

The three-year agreement will also see MEC and Sea to Sky Gondola collaborate on event sponsorship and onsite partnership recognition.

Sea To Sky Gondola vice president Jayson Faulkner said: ”MEC is our first corporate partner, and we are thrilled to be working with an organization that shares our commitment to getting people into the outdoors in a responsible way. We are honoured to have MEC with us on this journey.”

“Great vistas and wonderful trails inspire our members to be active wherever they find them, and we know these await visitors to Sea to Sky Gondola,” said MEC’s chief marketer Anne Donohoe. “It’s a great fit, MEC is always looking for ways to make it easier for Canadians to be outside.

Donohoe added, “We know that the Coast Mountains will throw four seasons of weather at Gondola staff. Employees can focus on serving visitors knowing that MEC-brand mountain apparel like the Synergy jacket will have their backs.”

One of Sea To Sky Gondola’s goals is to provide access to previously inaccessible terrain, and in the process become a leader in self-propelled ‘adventure by nature’. This new agreement is the first of its kind for MEC and the Sea To Sky Gondola is proud to forge this new relationship with an iconic Canadian brand that exists to enable and inspire Canadians to live active outdoor lifestyles and explore the beautiful Canadian landscape.

The Sea To Sky Gondola will open on May 16, 2014 with over 100 employees and counting. They will all be proudly wearing MEC uniforms.

Located 45 minute north of Vancouver, along the breathtaking Sea to Sky Highway, guests arrive at the base of the Sea To Sky Gondola.
